Fagan Wedding at the Indianapolis Yacht Club – Indianapolis Wedding Photographer

While I don’t post much of my wedding work these days, I still do shoot a few weddings a year. This wedding was extra special because I was able to photograph Kelsey and John’s proposal a little over a year ago. The proposal was perfect in every way so I knew that their wedding day would be similar and I was right. The weather on their proposal day was very up in the air and the same thing happened on their wedding day. However, these two were so easy going about it all and they didn’t let it put a damper on their big day! Even though it was raining off and on all day we were still able to get some pictures outside which we were all grateful for!

These two were married at St. Simon the Apostle Church in Lawrence, Indiana with their reception at the Indianapolis Yacht Club in McCordsville, IN. Both the wedding and reception were seamless and beautiful. Before the wedding took place there were lots of thunderstorms. So we had to do pictures before the ceremony at the hotel where the couple was getting ready. It was a lovely location even though it wasn’t the original plan. The skies cleared for a bit and the couple was able to do the ribbon church exit that they had planned.  After were were done with formal pictures it started storming again but at that point no one cared a bit!

Bridesmaid Dresses: BHLD
Florist: Petal Shed Sue Shider – She is a family friend of the bride and she did a fantastic job on those flowers!!
Catering: Shoups

A big thanks to Kelsey and John for allowing me to capture their stunning wedding day. I do still photograph a few weddings a year but only if they are a fit – for both the bride and groom and myself. Please let me know if you are looking for an Indianapolis wedding photographer. I would love to chat to see if we would be a good fit for each other!

Intimate Wedding at Embassy Suites Indianapolis North

Sometimes my favorite types of weddings are the smaller intimate ones. This was especially true for this wedding. This adorable couple was surrounded by a small group of their very closest friends and family. It was clear that everyone there truly loved and cared for them. The wedding was very low stress and everyone was just going with the flow. The ceremony was simple and sweet and was done by a family friend. The reception was also intimate but everyone was well fed and had spirits of their choice.

It was a little cold outside for outdoor wedding pictures but the inside of the Embassy Suites Indianapolis North was just perfect. There was a lot of natural light, some greenery, and interesting architecture. This Indianapolis wedding was a joy to photograph!  Congratulations to this wonderful couple!!!

Proposal at the Zoo – Indianapolis Proposal Photography

This is my 3rd proposal that I’ve had the joy of photographing in 3 weeks! Let me tell you, this never gets old!! I just love being able to capture this magical time for these new families in the making!

This stunning couple was pretty awesome. Meet Daniel and McKenzie! These two were straight out of a magazine spread… I mean just stunning and McKenzie didn’t even know she was going to have her picture taken. Daniel planned to propose at the Zoo in Indianapolis just outside the butterfly gardens. Only problem was that this Fall has been a cold rainy mess. He had a specific date he wanted to propose on so that the surprise would work. However there was a 100% chance of rain. We were going to do things as planned rain or not! But, when we arrived at the Zoo there was no rain! The whole proposal and pictures after were rain free. Then on our way home it started to downpour. These two had pretty perfect timing and McKenzie was completely surprised!

Make sure you check out the pictures of the ring too… it’s huge… and stunning!

Abe Martin Lodge – Brown County State Park Wedding Photography

Everything about this wedding was joyful! This sweet couple, LeAnna and Matthew, were surrounded by an intimate group of friends and family for a lovely outdoor ceremony at Brown County State park in Brown County, Indiana. The backdrop for their ceremony was the lovely Fall colors. Their ceremony was followed by a reception at the the park’s Abe Martin Lodge.

One of my favorite parts of the wedding day was the first look between the bride and her father. There were a few tears shed (even mine) during this intimate moment.

The couple also completely got lucky when it came to the weather. Their ceremony was completely dry. Not a drop of rain. However, about 15 minutes after the ceremony it stated raining and it didn’t let up. There was a complete downpour all night long after that. We were able to get some pictures (quickly) outside after the ceremony and after that no one was going outside if they didn’t have to.

Auterson Wedding – St. John Evangelist Catholic Church & Omni Severin Hotel in Indianapolis

Laura and Jacob tied the knot at the beautiful St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Indianapolis, IN. It’s a stunning church, but I’m a little bias as I was also married there. They were surrounded by their friends and family afterwards for their reception at the Omni Severin Hotel which is also right downtown Indianapolis. These two couldn’t have asked for more perfect weather or a smoother wedding. They left lots of time in their schedule for pictures which means we have lots of stunning pictures from their wedding day. So check out this long blog post filled with images from this lovely wedding day!

I have so many favorite parts about this wedding. I love that the bride and groom didn’t see each other until walking down the isle. Since it was an early Catholic service we will had tons of time for pictures. I love that the groom surprised the bride by playing and singing a song for her. I love that these two snuck away from dinner for 10 minutes for some stunning rooftop sunset pictures – stunning! Really I loved everything about the wedding.

Michelle & Michael – Wedding at the Mavris in Indianapolis, Indiana

This wedding has a special place in my heart. Not only because it included an adorably sweet and easy going couple who were a joy to work with, but also because they got married at one of my favorite venues. I like it so much- it’s where I got married. If you haven’t heard of the The Mavris Arts & Events Center in Indianapolis you should check it out for sure. It’s a stunning wedding venue.

This couple had both their wedding and reception at The Mavris. They had a lovely outdoor ceremony in the rooftop garden followed by a lively reception with friends and family.

The bride once lived in an adorable part of Indy where the streets are lined with brick and there are lots of old and adorable homes and beautiful gardens. You will see that they chose to do some of their bridal party pictures in this area of town. They also did some pictures downtown on the circle. I hope you enjoy the pictures of these two and their stunning wedding!

Joseph & Hope – Indianapolis Proposal Photography

It’s not every day that I get to capture a proposal. But when I do it’s so much fun! This is the proposal story of Joseph and Hope.

Of the dozen or so proposals that I’ve photographed this one had to be the most nerve wracking! About an hour before the proposal was suppose to happen it started to downpour. I’m talking tons of rain. The plan all along was to do this downtown and it had to happen on a certain day because both sides of the family were in town. So I packed up all my equipment and headed downtown and hoped for the best. I got downtown a little early but waited in my car as long as possible as it was still raining. When I couldn’t wait any longer (I knew the couple was getting close) I got out of my car. Miraculously the rain had stopped! It was amazing. So the downtown area wasn’t very crowed because it had just been raining and the weather was perfect.

This sweet couple has been dating for 8 years and they are in the process of moving to Indy. Joseph wanted to propose at a location that was iconic to Indy to represent this next phase in their lives/relationship. I can’t think of a more iconic place to propose then the monument circle downtown.

Joseph had it all planned out… We had a meeting location and when he got to the meeting location he asked Hope’s parents (who was with them) to take a picture of the two of them in front of the monument. That’s when I started clicking away and Joseph dropped to one knee and asked the question! When Hope turned back around she saw that I was there taking pictures and both sides of her family showed up. She was surprised for sure! After the actual proposal and after Hope showed off her ring (wow it was a beautiful one!) I was able to sneak the newly engaged couple away for a few engagement pictures on the circle. It was a perfect day!

Sandy & Justin Married at the Indiana Historical Society – Indianapolis Wedding Photographer

This wedding was a special one. The bride is an old coworker of mine (and now friend) back when I worked in corporate America. I got to hear all the stories day-by-day of this love story. I got to hear the good and the bad (but mostly good). It was fun being able to hear/watch this love story grow and turn into what it is today – a lovely married couple. I couldn’t be more excited for these two!!

The couple was married at the lovely Indiana Historical Society. If you haven’t seen this venue – it’s grand and stunning!! Another fun thing about this wedding was that the groom and groom’s men wore kilts. This was a first for me but they were super fun to photograph!

14 Highlights from KristeenMarie Photography in 2016

2016 has been a FANTASTIC year for a number of reasons. It’s been full of ups and downs but I would have to say that there were way more ups then there were downs. 2016 will forever be remembered as the year I welcomed my first baby into the world. So even though I didn’t shoot as much as I have in past years, I’ve accomplished so much more than just the sessions. I took three months off of shooting to create a human and it was amazing.

It’s hard to narrow down my favorite things about my job, because I’m convinced that I have the best job ever! But here goes… here are a few highlights from this year…

14. 31 Cake Smash Sessions – Every cake smash session is unique. I pride myself on creating a custom experience for each baby which includes a cake and backdrop to match their birthday theme. These sessions are so much fun for me, the baby, and the parents watching!!

13. 7 Engagement Sessions – Engagement photography is always fun! We get to focus on the couple and create images that represent their love for each other. I love picking locations that have meaning to the couple. Even though I took most of the Spring (the most popular season for engagement photography) off this year to have a baby I was still able to squeeze in a few brides-to-be! This year was full of lots of love. Indianapolis engagement photography

12. Introduction of Video – I’ve started surprising clients with little videos of their session. This is most common for birth sessions, but I’ve been known to do it for all the different session types. I’ve now added this as an option to add on to any session. If you are interested in adding a video to your session just let me know! I love making these.

11. A Live Proposal – I’m always super excited to be able to capture huge milestones in my clients life. It doesn’t get much more exciting the being able to capture the a live proposal! These guys are long time clients and I was also able to capture their wedding later on in the year. You can see the whole proposal here.

capturing a proposal in Indianapolis

10. 6 Fresh 48 Sessions – A Fresh 48 session is a session that is done in the hospital within 48 hours of a baby being born. This is a great session for those who aren’t comfortable with birth photography, but still want to capture the tiny-ness and emotion of the arrival of their new baby. These sessions are always fantastic as they are full of so much joy and emotion.

9. 13 Beautiful Baby Bellies – I love pregnancy so much! The body is such an amazing thing and pregnancy lasts for such a short time! If you are looking for an Indianapolis maternity photographer in 2017 be sure to let me know! I would love to photograph your baby bump. Indianapolis maternity photography

8. 33 Family Sessions – Almost all of these families are past clients. One of my very favorite things about my job is getting to watch families grow. I get to capture all these memories for families year after year and that makes my heart so happy!Indianapolis family photography - KristeenMarie Photo

7. 25 Milestone Session – Being able to watch and capture all these children’s growth over their first year of life is a wonderful thing. I love being able to capture all these fun milestones in their lives while building relationships with the babies and their families.

Studio Milestone Sessions

6. 9 Stunning Weddings – I’m always so honored to be able to photograph a couple’s wedding. For me, a wedding is like being able to capture the love story of each of these lovely couples. Weddings are a huge time commitment and due to this I only take a very limited number of couples each year. However, I find each wedding to be super rewarding. If you are looking for an Indianapolis wedding photographer be sure to reach out!

5. 62 Newborn Babies – It’s no secret that I love photographing these squishy beautiful babies! This year the studio was full with 60 tiny fresh faces. 25 of these babies were siblings of past clients. I love watching all these families grow!! Almost all of these babies were photographed when they were younger then 14 days old. That’s a lot of very tiny fingers and toes! If you are looking for an Indianapolis newborn photographer be sure to let me know. I would LOVE to have your little one in my studio this year.

4. One Special Senior Session – I’ve been volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana for the last 7 years. I’ve been matched with my ‘Little Sister’ the whole time. This year my little sister graduates from high school. That also means she graduates from the Big Brothers program. That doesn’t mean our relationship ends, but it does mean that she will be a little harder to see on a regular basis once she starts college. I’ve so glad I was able to photograph her for her senior pictures. These photos will always be a reminder all of our time together. I don’t normally do senior photographer, but for her I made and exception. Here is the whole session.

senior picture

3. Birth Photography – Birth is truly an AMAZING thing. I can’t in words describe it. Maybe that is why I enjoy photographing it so much. Every birth I photograph is so different from the last. Even though they are all different they are all leave me in awe of the human body. Each birth I photograph leaves me wanting to photograph another one. In 2016 I photographed two births. But I love it so much that I’ve already got 4 on the books for 2017 and I’m excited to get a few more (but not too many!) on the books. I just LOVE births. <3 So let me know if you are looking for an Indianapolis birth photographer.

2. Photographing my Sister’s Engagement – One cool thing about being a photographer is being able to capture special moments in the lives of your loved ones. It was a joy to be able to photograph my sister’s engagement pictures. My sister and her fiance are both beautiful people both inside and out and I hope she feels that when she looks through her pictures. I couldn’t be more excited to attend their wedding (don’t worry, I won’t be photographing it) as my sister’s maid of honor this Fall.

Indianapolis Engagement Photographer

1. Photographing My Own Newborn – Hands down, the biggest and most exciting event in 2016 (and maybe my whole life) was welcoming my own little one into the world. I just love this little dude to pieces. I was so excited to do my own newborn pictures. However, I’m going to have to say that photographing your own newborn is way harder then photographing someone else’s’ baby. But I’m so glad I was able to capture this time in my little guy’s life.

Welcome to the world, baby

I couldn’t have done any of these things without the help of all of my WONDERFUL clients. I can’t say thank you enough for supporting my small business and allowing me to capture all these phases of your lives. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Cary and Betsy – Rathskeller Wedding in Indianapolis

I loved working with Betsy and Cary from the beginning. They were troopers for their ice filled engagement session! I knew their wedding was sure to be fantastic as well… and it was!

The bride got ready at Nestle Inn Indianapolis. This was such a cute little inn and made for the perfect backdrop for wedding prep!! These two had a lovely wedding ceremony at the Arch at Chatham in Indianapolis. The ceremony was followed by a fun filled reception at the Rathskeller which is also in Downtown Indianapolis. Even though the couple had 3 different locations for their wedding, everything was within walking distance. It was a perfect little wedding set-up!Nestle Inn Indianapolis
