Every few years I rewrite this blog post and it’s always one of my most visited posts. So since I haven’t updated this post since 2018, there is an updated list of my favorite places for outdoor family photography Indianapolis and surrounding areas.

Creek side mini sessions are widely popular and typically disappear when I send out the booking info. But did you know you can do a full session at the creek?! This family decided to go all out and opted for a full creek side session. And boy, did they make the right call! Their enthusiasm was infectious, and I was ready to capture every joyful moment of their adventure.

Nature has a way of demonstrating the interconnectedness of our planet, as events in one corner can have surprising consequences in distant locations. Recently, Canada has experienced devastating wildfires that have left their mark on both the Canadian landscape and beyond. The impact of these wildfires has reached as far as Indiana, where hazy sunsets have become an unexpected result of the Canadian fires. The smoke particles act as a filter, altering the distribution of wavelengths in the sunlight and creating a captivating display of warm, muted colors during sunset. Shades of red, orange, and pink dominate the horizon. This isn’t your typical Indiana sunset, but it does make for some unique pictures.
