Special sentimental touches always get me. If clients have ideas to make sessions more personal I’m always game! This client takes the cake (pun intended) for sentimental touches. This little birthday boy’s mom is a fashion designer in real life. Typically she makes sports attire but for her son’s first birthday she stepped outside of the box and designed this little guy’s cake smash outfit! It was fun seeing the design process for his little outfit.
I ask my clients to send me a picture of their cake smash outfit at least 3 weeks before their session. This gives me time to build the client’s custom backdrop. Since this little guy’s mom was making outfit she didn’t have it completed 3 weeks prior to the session (totally understandable) so she sent me pictures of the design process of what she was working on (the first picture below). I loved getting to see someone else’s creative process. While sewing clothes is something I’ll probably never do there is something about working with other creatives that fills my cup. Not a detail was missed on this birthday boy’s outfit. My favorite detail was the hand embroidered “The Big ONE” on the luscious ribbon of his crown.
This little guy’s “The Big ONE” cake smash session came together adorably. I’m obsessed with mom’s outfit and how everything worked out. This little birthday boy loved his cake and he took some amazing pictures.
Don’t worry… you don’t have to be a fashion designer or make your child’s cake smash session outfit! I would love to come up with something special for your birthday baby if you are interested in a 1st birthday cake smash session. I would love to be your family’s Indianapolis photographer and photograph all the milestones in the lives of your family.
