The sunflower fields at Spencer Farm in Noblesville are one of my absolute favorite places to shoot, and for good reason. There’s something magical about walking through a sea of bright yellow blooms stretching as far as the eye can see. The fields, which span 3.5 acres, are truly a sight to behold, with sunflowers towering anywhere from 3 to 9 feet tall. The way the sun hits the field at golden hour creates the perfect warm glow that makes every session feel like a dream. It’s no wonder this location has become a favorite for families, couples, and even pet owners looking for stunning backdrops. Year after year, clients return to capture their family memories here, and it’s easy to see why Spencer Farm is such a sought-after spot for sunflower photography.
Here’s what you need to know about sunflower photography sessions at Spencer Farm in Noblesville, Indiana:
1. The Blooming Window is Short
Sunflowers bloom for a short two-week window between late July and mid-August. The exact timing can vary, so booking early is key.
2. Full Sessions vs. Mini Sessions
I offer two types of sessions: full and mini. Full sessions last an hour and can be booked on any available date within the blooming window. Mini sessions are shorter—20 minutes—and are held back-to-back on set dates.
3. Booking Early is Crucial
To snag a spot, be sure you’re on my email list. I send out dates as soon as Spencer Farm provides the estimated bloom dates. Since the window is so short, spots fill up quickly!
4. Sunflowers of All Sizes
The field is 3.5 acres of sunflowers ranging from 3 to 9 feet tall. It’s a stunning backdrop for any session—whether you’re looking for family, maternity, or kids’ photos.
5. Best Lighting at Sunset
All sessions are scheduled around sunset for that beautiful golden light. It’s the perfect time of day to make those sunflowers pop!
6. Limited Availability
Since the bloom window is so short, my sunflower sessions are limited. I suggest booking as soon as you get the email with available dates to secure your spot.
7. Dress for the Field
Sunflowers are tall and the field can be a little uneven. Wear shoes you’re comfortable walking in, and light, airy outfits to keep cool.
8. Kid- and Pet-Friendly
These sessions are great for kids and pets! The wide-open field lets little ones explore, and your furry friends are welcome to join in the fun. The sunflowers provide a whimsical, natural environment for everyone.
9. Perfect for All Occasions
Sunflower sessions are perfect for family photos, maternity sessions, or even couples. The vibrant colors and golden light make for amazing images.
10. Book Early for Next Year
If you miss this year’s window, don’t worry! Be sure to get on my email list so you can catch it next year. These blooms are worth planning ahead for!
