As an Indianapolis newborn photographer, I get to see a lot of creative ideas in the studio. This “you are my sunshine” theme was such a fun way to mark a first birthday. Soft pinks, warm yellows, and touches of gold kept everything light and clean. These colors photograph beautifully and never overpower the baby.
I have been photographing this birthday girl since she was a newborn. Because of that, this session felt extra special. Watching her grow from those first sleepy days to a confident one-year-old never gets old.
I always start with family photos on the cream couch. It helps everyone relax. Plus, parents get a few favorites before the cake appears. Then I move into simple portraits of the birthday girl. Her dress paired perfectly with the sunshine backdrop, and the studio light stayed soft and crisp.
Once the cake came out, she was all in. Frosting everywhere. Feet kicking. Zero hesitation. The pink and yellow cake held up just long enough for plenty of sweet shots.
Sessions like this are a reminder of why I love what I do. From newborn days to first birthdays, being an Indianapolis newborn photographer means documenting it all. And that is something I never take lightly.
