I’ve always loved baby hands and feet, but more and more I find myself capturing those tiny features while including family members hands as well. I think this juxtapose of features creates for beautiful meaningful art. There are two things I hope you get out of these shots – connection and vulnerability.
Connection: Newborn photography is not limited to solo shots of the baby. It encompasses the entire family and their relationships. By incorporating the hands of family members into the frame, the I am to capture the unity and connection that defines the family dynamic. These images tell a story of a shared journey, where each person plays a vital role in shaping the newborn’s life. The tiny hands in the images serve as a nostalgic reminder of the baby’s fragility and the fleeting nature of infancy. They become a source of joy and reflection, evoking memories of a time filled with love, tenderness, and endless possibilities.
Vulnerability: A baby’s hands are incredibly small and delicate, encapsulating their vulnerability and innocence. By highlighting these tiny hands in newborn photography, we are reminded of the fragile nature of life and the immense responsibility that comes with caring for a newborn. These images serve as a poignant reminder that the littlest gestures and interactions can have the most profound impact on a child’s development.
While I adore everything about this family and their session, I especially enjoy the shots of the family’s hands!
