This sweet girl is baby Shawn. Both Shawn and her sister have Irish names due to their strong Irish heritage. This is something I can get excited about, being half Irish myself.
We had lots of fun sprinkling in all kind of meaning during this newborn session. Baby Shawn was a rainbow baby (baby after a previous loss or miscarriage) so of course I had to highlight that. I’ve had a number of rainbow boys in the studio lately, but it was fun to have a little girl and do pastel colors. Shawn’s mom hasn’t opened up publicly about her miscarriage. But she was excited to use these pictures to start that conversation with others. This means the world to me as I think normalizing miscarriage and loss is so incredibly important and that will never happen if we don’t talk about.
We also included so many props from Shawn’s maternity session into this session. There was a beautiful headband and mom and big sister had matching ones. These images from the maternity session and newborn session will look stunning displayed next to each other in an album or series of prints.
Shawn’s mom also wanted a number of boho set-ups to match the nursery she decorated. That wasn’t a problem as I love all things boho! The whole gallery is huge, light and airy, with lots of boho and rainbow vibes. I love customizing each session to my client’s preferences.
