This sweet little guy just turned one, and I got to help him celebrate with a teddy bear-themed cake smash session! As an Indianapolis photographer, these first birthday milestone sessions are some of my favorites. They’re messy, unpredictable, and full of personality—just like toddlers.
We started with some simple portraits, and I made sure to include plenty of teddy bears. His little baby rolls matched the stuffies perfectly. So much squish and so much cuteness.
Like many one-year-olds, he wasn’t too sure about the cake at first. He needed a little time to warm up. But once he got going, he had fun digging in and exploring. Not much eating, but lots of smashing and lots of great expressions.
This age is all about curiosity. I try to keep the setups simple so babies can move around and engage with their environment. We got a mix of portraits, candid moments, and those classic messy cake shots.
