Cake smash sessions are always a little wild. But with twins? Double the fun. Double the chaos. And yes—double the cake.
I recently photographed an adorable twin cake smash for a baby boy and girl who just turned one. We kept the setup simple and sweet with pastel pink and blue, twinkle lights, and balloons. I’ve been photographing this family for around eight years now, and it’s been such a joy watching them grow.
Baby brother came ready to party. He dove into his cake like it was the best thing he’d ever seen. Baby sister? She had her own agenda. She tipped her cake over, crawled around the set, and explored every corner. It was messy and unpredictable—and that’s exactly why I love cake smash sessions.
As an Indianapolis photographer, I’ve done dozens of these. Some babies cry. Some eat. Some barely touch the cake. And that’s okay. I work fast and follow their lead. The magic is in the real moments, not the perfect ones.
Twins can be tricky, but they’re also full of personality. We got images of each baby on their own and then some sweet shots together. These milestone sessions go by quickly, and I’m always honored to capture them—especially for families I’ve known for years.
Thinking about doing a cake smash for your little one (or two)? Do it. It’s messy. It’s fun. It’s 100% worth it. If you are expecting twins, I would also LOVE being your Indianapolis twin newborn photographer!
