2023 – the year that brought more highs than a helium balloon at a birthday party and lows as rare as a unicorn sighting! Seriously, could it get any better? I don’t think so!
This year gifted me the absolute honor of working with a whopping 198 families. Yes, you heard it right – 198 families brought their A-game to the photoshoot extravaganza, and many of them even had more than one shoot during the year! I lost count of the images – let’s just say it’s a number that rivals the snacks I go through during editing marathons. Now, to all those wonderful families – you are my rockstars! Thank you for the laughter, the camaraderie, and for trusting me to freeze those priceless moments in time. Your business, your friendship, and your unwavering trust made 2023 not just great but downright legendary! Cheers to the clients that made this year a picture-perfect masterpiece!
There was one low for the year, but you will have to scroll all the way to the end to read about that one.
Here are a few of my highlights from the year (in no particular order)…
1 – The Joy of Family Photography
This year, I, as an Indianapolis family photographer, had the joy of photographing 121 family sessions. Each session represents a snapshot of the life of each of these clients – genuine, connected, and authentic. Grateful for the opportunity to freeze these raw moments in time. A shoutout to the families that made 2023 memorable and allowing me to capture this time in each of your lives.
The absolute best part of my job is being able to watch families grow year after year (don’t get me wrong, I do love new clients too!). While I don’t know the number of clients that are repeat clients it’s at least half. You guys make my job the best one out there. I adore watching your families grow year after year and I’m honored that you trust me to grow with your family and capture you year after year. Thank you.
2 – Cuddly Newborn Photography and Capturing the Connection
It’s no secret that I adore newborn sessions. They are what got me excited about photography when I first started over 12 years ago. This year I had the privilege of photographing 65 newborn babies. Thank you to all the new parents out there who allowed me to be your Indianapolis newborn photographer. I hope you love your images as much as I enjoyed taking them for you.
One thing new about newborn photography this year is that I really tried to focus on connection. Yes, cute baby pictures are adorable no matter the image, but I think an image means so much more when the newborn shows some sort of connection (normally with a family member). So this year I focused a lot on family pictures, sibling pictures and even adding parent/sibling hands into images a lot more. I want to show that bond and connection that is so present during the newborn stage.
Many of these families I also did maternity photography for, too. I adore being an Indianapolis maternity photographer almost as much as I love newborn photography. There is just something so special about that anticipation before baby arrives. It doesn’t matter if it’s your first baby or your fifth, the excitement is still there!
3 – Cake, cake and more cake!
Cake smash sessions are a client favorite! I did 38 cake smash session in the studio over the last year. Classic Cakes in Carmel is rocking it on getting lots of beautiful cakes and I adore creating these custom set-ups for each of these birthday babies! If you have a little one turning one in the next year reach out and let me know. I would love to be your Indianapolis cake smash photographer.
4. New Website
Launching a new website is no easy task. My last site served me well for a good 10 years, but all good things come to and end. The new site is everything I hoped for and more! A huge shot out to Launch Your Daydream for her mad website skills on the Showit Platform.
5. Capturing All the Milestones Including Monthly Milestone
Over the last year I’ve captured, 28 milestone sessions. These sessions are a great way for me to capture that quickly changing baby phase and also for me to build relationships with clients – my fav! Last year I even had one client who booked monthly sessions to capture her growing babe. This has been my absolute favorite and I now offer a package for that as well (just ask!).
The Low – Not Enough Time Photographing in the Hospitals
In the hospitals (or birth place as it doesn’t have to be in a hospital) I offer both Indianapolis Birth Photography and Fresh 48 Sessions.
This last year I didn’t spend as much time in the hospitals as I would have liked. Since COVID this part of my business hasn’t rebounded as much as I would have liked. This is in part due to some hospital restrictions but MOST hospitals are allowing me, as a photographer, back in. So if you are interested a Indianapolis Fresh 48 photography or Indianapolis Birth Photography sessions please let me know. I would love to chat with you to see if we can make this work! I would love to get back into the Indianapolis hospitals even more in 2024.
Thank You
In reflection, this year has been nothing short of stellar. I find it genuinely difficult to express the depth of my gratitude. A heartfelt THANK YOU extends to each and every one of my clients who entrusted me to photograph this time in your lives. Your choice to have me as your Indianapolis photographer means the world to me. I sincerely appreciate the privilege of being selected to freeze these precious moments. It’s an honor that resonates deeply, and I want you all to know how genuinely grateful I am for your trust and the opportunity to document this chapter in your lives. Thank you!
