Every maternity session is special. But this one hit a little differently.
This beautiful mama is my cousin. And not just any cousin.
She was a baby when I started babysitting.
I remember loving her so much as a kid. I named my baby dolls after her. I thought she was the cutest little thing. And now, all these years later, I get to photograph her as she prepares to become a mom.
That is not lost on me.
There is something wild about watching someone grow up. One minute, they are the little baby everyone is passing around. Then somehow, they are standing in front of my camera with a baby of their own on the way.
It made this session extra meaningful.
Her maternity session was calm, sweet, and full of joy. She looked beautiful. But more than that, she looked ready. Ready for this next chapter. Ready to meet the baby who is already so loved.
As a photographer, I get to document a lot of milestones. Maternity sessions are always one of my favorites because there is so much anticipation. There is love, change, and so much excitement wrapped into one short season.
But as her cousin, this session meant even more.
I kept thinking about that baby I used to babysit. The one I loved so much. The one I named my dolls after.
And now I get to watch her become a mom.
What a gift.
I cannot wait to meet this sweet baby. And of course, I cannot wait to get this little one in front of my camera for newborn pictures.
