I love sitter milestone sessions! Capturing babies at this stage is so special. These sessions are best when your baby can sit soundly on their own. You should feel comfortable leaving your baby on a hard surface without fear of toppling over. This usually happens around 7 months old, but every baby is different. If your baby isn’t sitting solidly yet, we can reschedule.
To help the session go as smoothly as possible, here are a few recommendations:
- Session Length: Expect the session to last about 45 minutes to an hour. If baby is happy I try to move quickly though the session as you never know how quickly moods will change. 🙂
- Outfits: I typically recommend 2 or 3 outfits, plus one naked baby setup. I have diaper covers and rompers for the naked baby setup. You can also do a family setup in one of the three outfits. When bringing outfits from home less is more – rompers, overalls and simple outfits tend to photograph the best and put the baby in focus.
- Participants: This is not an extended family session. Only siblings and parents are invited to participate. For family outfits I recommend soft neutral colors.
- Sleep: Ensure your baby gets a good night’s sleep or a good nap before the session. If your child has a set nap schedule let’s schedule your session around that nap schedule to ensure a happy baby!
- Snacks: Bring a few snacks or an extra bottle to keep your baby happy.
- Family Picture: If you want to do a family picture, parents and siblings should wear simple, comfortable, solid-colored clothing. I recommend creams, whites, gray, or peach colors. Please avoid solid black and neon colors.
- Special Items: Feel free to bring anything special you’d like me to incorporate in your session. Examples include a hat, blanket, booties, headband, or anything from the child’s nursery.
- Punctuality: I understand getting out of the house can be hard, especially on picture day! Please be on time, as there may be sessions scheduled after yours.
