That Sweet Spot Between Baby and Toddler
There’s something about the sitter stage that gets me every time. Around 6–8 months, babies are full of expression and joy. They can sit on their own but usually aren’t crawling away yet – which makes it perfect for photos!
This age is full of curiosity. Big eyes, gummy smiles, and chubby hands reaching for the camera. It’s when their little personalities start to shine.
What Makes Sitter Sessions So Fun
I love that every sitter session is different. Some babies giggle nonstop. Others take their time and study the world around them. Either way, these sessions are packed with genuine moments.
The best part? No pressure. We follow the baby’s lead. I keep things light and simple with soft colors, minimal props, and lots of interaction.
Tips for a Smooth Session
Here’s what helps make the magic happen:
-
Schedule right after nap time. A rested baby is a happy baby.
-
Feed before you arrive. A full tummy makes for easy smiles.
-
Bring two or three simple outfits. Solid colors photograph beautifully. I also have lots of outfits in the studio to choose from, if you like.
-
Don’t stress if baby needs a break—we’ll roll with it.
Why This Stage Matters
Time moves fast. One minute your baby is a sleepy newborn, the next they’re sitting tall and showing off those sweet rolls. This stage is worth documenting before they’re on the move.
These are the photos that remind parents of that happy, wobbly in-between stage—the one that passes in a blink.
