One of the most common questions I get as a newborn photographer is, “When should I book my session?” The short answer: Before baby arrives! Here’s why.
Limited Availability
I only schedule 7-10 newborns per month. This allows me to give each family the time and attention they deserve. However, because of this, my calendar fills up quickly. If you wait until after baby is born to book, you may miss your spot. If you baby is here, it never hurts to reach out and ask if I have any openings, but it’s best to book before baby arrives!
When Do We Set the Date?
Don’t worry—although you book in advance, I won’t set the actual session date until your little one is here. Once baby arrives, just shoot me a quick email. I’ll respond with some available dates and times for your session. The sooner you let me know baby has arrived, the more options you’ll have to choose from!
Why the First Two Weeks Matter
I typically like to photograph babies within the first two weeks of life. During this time, they’re still super sleepy, making it easier to capture those curled-up poses everyone loves. Plus, they’re less likely to be fussy.
That being said, I understand things don’t always go according to plan. If you need to schedule your session after that two-week window, don’t stress. We can still get beautiful images no matter your baby’s age. Every stage has its own sweet moments!
How to Book
To secure your spot, it’s best to book your session while you’re still pregnant. Typically clients book sometime after their first trimester. We’ll handle the rest once baby arrives! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. I’m here to make the process as easy as possible for you.
Booking your session before baby arrives is the best way to ensure availability with your Indianapolis newborn photographer. By planning ahead, you’ll have peace of mind knowing you’ve secured a spot. Whether your baby is a few days or a few weeks old, I’m here to capture those special moments for your family.
